Frequently Asked Questions
How is my stardate calculated?
Your stardate is a three-part number. The first part is the year of your life you are currently living (e.g., 57 for someone born in 2000). The middle three digits are the day of the calendar year — 001 is January 1st, 088 is March 29th. The decimal is the percentage of today that has already passed: .77 means 77% of the day is gone.
What does the Apple Watch complication show?
The complication displays the percentage of your current day that has elapsed — updated throughout the day. It is designed to be glanceable and ambient rather than precise.
What are the life percentage figures?
Stardate calculates two figures: what percentage of your total life this calendar year represents, and what percentage this single day represents. These are based on your current age.
Can I change my date of birth after setting it?
Yes — you can update your date of birth at any time in the app settings. All calculations update immediately.
The app is not syncing to my Watch. What should I try?
Make sure both your iPhone and Apple Watch are on the same Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth is enabled. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Stardate, and confirm it is installed. If the issue persists, try force-quitting and reopening the app on both devices, then email us if it is still not working.
Privacy
Stardate stores your chosen date locally on your device. It is never transmitted to any server, sold, or shared. The app contains no ads and makes no network requests related to your personal data.
